Creation process
Made in one piece and without surface cuts, Peter Weber's works bring the phenomenon of folding into the viewer's field of vision.
In his serial works produced on pure white Canson watercolor paper, the mathematical diversity of this technique is perfected; The works folded in strong felt, Peter Weber's dominant material since 2001, have a strong material presence. Taming the felt sheet into the geometric construction he specified led to works of sculptural expressiveness.
Besides felt and paper, Peter Weber also uses materials such as canvas, cotton, plastic and even steel. “The pliable material transforms from the surface into an architectural structure and then slides back into the surface as a relief.
It is the idea of completeness that fascinates me and inspires me to continually push the boundaries of what is possible in order to solve complex design problems.
