Estelle Lagarde, born in 1973 in Châtenay-Malabry -Lives and works in Paris.

Graduated from École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris La Villette (Architecture national high School of Paris-La Villette), with first class honors.In 2003 and 2004, she met personalities from the world of photography and received strong encouragement from the Agence VU and Gilles Mora – a French photography historian and critic specialised in 20th century American photography

Estelle Lagarde makes photographs in neglected places – château, hospital, houses set for demolition. This is not the poetry of ruins that attracts this young woman, but the fact that these places charged with the presence of their former tenants are sanctuaries conducive to the evocation of vanished beings.

Estelle Lagarde est née en 1973, à Chatenay-Malabry. Elle vit et travaille à Paris.

“Les photographies d’Estelle Lagarde sont réalisées dans des lieux à l’abandon – château, hôpital, maisons promises à la démolition. Ce n’est pas la poésie des ruines qui attire cette jeune femme, mais le fait que ces endroits chargés de la présence de leurs anciens locataires constituent des sanctuaires propices à l’évocation d’êtres disparus.”
